Your tracking is out? Have you ever had a tyre fitter or garage say this to you? Do you know what it means?
Tracking in simple terms is what keeps your car in a straight line if you let go of the steering wheel, although I wouldn’t advise that you try this. All cars have specific track settings and usually what is called “Toe in” along with other, usually non adjustable, settings like Camber and Caster.
The video below gives a great explanation of tracking.
If you drive through a big pothole, hit the kerb hard, or maybe hit something in the carriageway, then it might be worthwhile getting your tracking checked. It’s not very expensive, and could save you having to replace your tyres early due to uneven wear. In extreme cases, tracking that is incorrect could cause a dangerous blowout, putting yourself and others at risk.
